چکیده

This paper is concerned with the experimental design for precise parameter estimation in a model of known form. Emphasis is primarily placed on three flotation models in which the parameters appear in a non-linear fashion. The first part of the paper consists of a brief statement of the statistical concepts and procedures involved in obtaining precise estimates of parameters, the logic of the design criterion, and the general sequential design procedures. Based on of this background, the second part describes the experimental design problem of estimating the parameters in three different flotation recovery models. The numbers of sampling and different measuring times for these models to obtain the precise parameter estimates are present in the conclusion. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Parameter Estimation in Spatial Generalized Linear Mixed Models with Skew Gaussian Random Effects using Laplace Approximation

Spatial generalized linear mixed models are used commonly for modelling non-Gaussian discrete spatial responses. We present an algorithm for parameter estimation of the models using Laplace approximation of likelihood function. In these models, the spatial correlation structure of data is carried out by random effects or latent variables. In most spatial analysis, it is assumed that rando...

Bayesian Inference for Spatial Beta Generalized Linear Mixed Models

In some applications, the response variable assumes values in the unit interval. The standard linear regression model is not appropriate for modelling this type of data because the normality assumption is not met. Alternatively, the beta regression model has been introduced to analyze such observations. A beta distribution represents a flexible density family on (0, 1) interval that covers symm...

Evaluation of Non- linear Growth Curves Models for Native Slow-growing Khazak Chickens

Native poultry is a valuable genetic source with high resistance against diseases providing an important subject for breeding programs. The non-linear mathematical modeling of the growth pattern may partly explain the relationship between requirements and body weight to precise feeding that plays a vital role in the animal enterprises. A study was conducted to compare five non-linear models inc...

Analyzing Binomial Data in a Split-Plot Design: Classical Approach or Modern Techniques?

Binomial data are often generated in split-plot experimental designs in agricultural, biological, and environmental research. Modeling non-normality and random effects are the two major challenges in analyzing binomial data in split-plot designs. In this study, seven statistical methods for testing whole-plot and subplot treatment effects using mixed, generalized linear, or generalized linear m...

Robust estimation of non-linear aspects

As a rst step for dealing with eecient robust estimation in non-linear models , we regard the problem of eecient robust estimation of non-linear aspects (functions) '() of the unknown parameter of a linear model. For robust estimation of a general non-linear aspect we propose estimators which are based on one-step-M-estimators and derive their asymptotic behaviour at the contaminated linear mod...
